THE SHORT VERSION
Hidden Legends is a fantasy-paranormal academy universe created and co-owned by best friends and USA Today bestselling authors Megan Linski (left) and Alicia Rades (right).
Megan Linski is a coffee connoisseur who enjoys ice skating, horseback riding, and shopping. Her stories feature themes of community and friendship while advocating for the rights of the disabled.
Alicia Rades is a mother who loves baking cookies, reading tarot, and binge-watching Netflix. She has a passion for personal development and strives to incorporate emotional-empowerment themes into her books. Both girls love nature, animals, sexy romances, and eating cheese.
THE LONG VERSION
After experiencing a bad breakup and quitting her contemporary job, Megan Linski made the last-minute decision to attend her first book conference, Utopia Con 2016 in Nashville, TN. She packed up a suitcase, threw it in her car, and prepared to embark on the journey of her life.
Little did she know, hundreds of miles away across Lake Michigan, Alicia Rades was following the exact same call of destiny. Alicia drove twelve hours to Tennessee on a whim to Utopia Con, feeling something was leading her on.
Alicia’s first thought when she saw Megan was, “I like her dress.” Megan’s first thought when she saw Alicia was, “Why is this bitch following me?”
The two soon bonded over a shared love of reading. Megan hoped she didn’t look gross while eating her gluten-free sandwich; Alicia couldn’t stop talking about audiobooks.
Once Utopia was over, the girls returned home, not knowing they’d ignited fate. Years passed, with Megan working for Alicia as an editor. Alicia asked Megan to co-write with her several times, but Megan refused, until she finally caved and agreed to collaborate on a project in April 2018.
Thus, the Academy of Magical Creatures series was born, and through it, the Hidden Legends Universe. The series was originally meant to be a trilogy of three books, only 50,000 words for each title.
They quickly gave up on that idea after the first book surpassed 140,000 words.
Throughout their journey, Alicia and Megan have shut down a water park ride, visited a nude beach in Australia, and talked upwards of five hours on the phone at a single time. They’ve held koalas, won awards for their academy series, and twerked the night away at some of the most amazing writers conventions in the country.
Megan has aided Alicia on her spiritual journey through life, while Alicia has continued to be a faithful companion for Megan during her battle against common variable immune deficiency disorder.
Several series later, Megan and Alicia are still a strong co-writing powerhouse, and the best of friends. The future is bright and open, and both girls are ready to face it– as long as there’s chocolate.
